One of the very appealing qualities of fractal art is the wonderful color. If you look through my galleries you will see I am very much a colorist. I started my more serious exploration into art with photography. I learned how to work in the darkroom as a teenager. Black and white photographs are where I started to learn my artistic language. As time went by I never gave up photograph and my love of black and white images. However, I started to explore many types of art and color became my focus.

The last few years I have explored fractal art primarily working with Mandelbulb 3D. The range of wonderful colors available while working with fractals is fantastic. I recently started to make more industrial darker fractals that appear more photographic. It just seemed natural to explore these images in black and white almost as I would a photograph. Each black and white fractal is tweaked specifically for black and white. Not all of my fractals work with black and white but some are even better than the colored versions. I discovered a drama that can be brought to some fractal by presenting them in black and white. I am now exploring creating fractals in black and white in the program not just in post processing. Here are some of my recent black and white fractals I hope you all enjoy them.

Beautiful work! I do enjoy playing with colour, but there's something special about black and white images.
